Association for Human Rights and Women’s Rights in Development (AWARD)

Association for Human Rights and Women’s Rights in Development (AWARD) is a local Thai Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) established in 1998. Previous to its legal registration as AWARD on August 8th, 2011, it was known as the Slum Women Network Development Project (SWON) before changing to Women’s Rights Development Centre (WORD) because of its broadening and more comprehensive mission and goals. AWARD focuses on developing and promoting the integration and development of women in both urban and rural communities, along with protection of women who are in unkind situations, and victims of all forms of violence, especially victims of human trafficking

GOAL

To support and develop human rights and women’s rights

OBJECTS

  1. To encourage women to form groups in order to develop themselves and solve their problems at family, community and network levels.
  2. To promote and develop capacity and awareness of the role of women in all aspects of social development.
  3. To protect the rights of female victims from all forms of violence,
  4. To cooperate with all sectors to solve problems at the policy and practical level in order to improve women’s quality of life.

MISSION

  1. To encourage women to form groups in order to promote economic, social, political, environmental and health care activities.
  2. To develop women’s potential at the individual and organizational level in order to increase their role in solving problems, and developing their capacity, community and society.
  3. To cooperate with partners from public and private sectors at policy level to prevent and resolve all forms of violence against women.
  4. To cooperate with partners from public and private sectors to assistance of victims of human trafficking.
